    I tried to pry the bike embrace off my 2004. 5 dually today & couldn't get it to budge. I estimate I am afraid of bending or breaking it. Non sure if it is metal or something else.

    I don't feel also smart correct now. I need a little basic instruction. Anyone care to instruct a willing pupil?

    Cheers,

    Are y'all taking off the heart cap, or the wheel skin? If made the same every bit the '94, the wheelskin is stainless steel, center cap is plastic. They are tight fit. You volition probably want to get a rubber malet to put them dorsum on. A tad hard on the hands.
  3. Slow Six

    You have to remove the center cap first. I made a minor claw to reach in the small slot on the edge of the center cap. It takes a pretty proficient tug to remove information technology. The large outer trim ring tin be removed with a large flat screw driver or something like. You push it between the bicycle and the ring and pry downwardly rather than trying to push it out. I find that information technology is easier to work my mode around the cycle rather than trying to become it off in i pull. You need to be careful putting them dorsum on. Make sure the clips sideslip into the wheel rather than angle back. They are a bit of a PITA, but once you figure them out they are not to bad. Hope this helps.

    They're all plastic on the newer trucks. You don't have to remove the inner cover first. Utilise a big flat screwdriver like Slow Six suggested and slowly work your way around the big cover. The center cap will pop off all by itself from prying on the outer embrace. Might exist a lilliputian harder on the plastic doing it this manner but it works. If you desire to remove the inner cover commencement, apply the pry cease of one of the mill jack handles, that's what it'southward for. Before the Ricksons I used to exist every bit fast and hard as I could be, hoping I'd "accidentally" pause one. Then I wouldn't accept to mess with them anymore. Stupid abrasive plastic crap. I took a jigsaw to a few of the holes to make checking tire pressure level easier. Chrome or stainless or whatever plating looks bad after doing that, information technology peels. Oh well, at present they but sit down in the shed collecting dust.

    Don't slip with those screwdrivers. That chrome on plastic peels like shooting fish in a barrel. :{

    When my dealer rotated the tires last fourth dimension they chipped a pice virtually 3/4" long off the outer skin. They agreed to supersede information technology - the skin was on backorder for over half dozen weeks!

    Be careful at present...

    Go get the lug wrench from under the seat. The end has a small lip designed for removing the bike skins and heart cap.

    I used the lug wrench and that is what I peeled mine with. I learned to keep constant pressure pushing down on the lug wrench while you twist it a little as you piece of work your way around the cycle skin. Works for me and no more peeled chrome. Information technology is not a quick process, at least for me.

    The middle caps come up off existent easy if you lot simply grab them with both hands and twist.
