I accept a demand to update my software for Husqvarna Viking Designer 1.  The software I have is from ten years ago (roughly) Customizing and Digitizing 5.0 and Buzz Tools to convert designs.  I have been out of the embroidery loop And then LONG that I find that I seriously need help figuring out all these new fangled programs that have come up on the scene.  If anyone would be willing to update me on these I would GREATLY appreciate information technology.  I am not opposed to getting a non-Viking software program if there is 1 that volition work with my D1 - I notwithstanding have the one with the floppy in the side - not the USB.  I take mostly used the Customizing, merely similar to be able to modify things sometimes, so I'm non really sure what I need. If I accept not given yous enough information to figure information technology out - it is because I don't know the information to give you.  Please feel free to enquire me questions in lodge to best determine what I would need.  Thank you And then, Then much for your help!

I know Husqvarna, Pfaff (same programme) Brother & Bernina own Designer 1, Pfaff CV & Blood brother 1500D believe the best program for Designer 1 is 4D Extra this will let y'all do everything in bones & easy to utilise plus catechumen to SHV. If yous want to digitize Bernina is the best but you volition need to hang on to your old program to make converting easier 4D is a HUGE improvement on Customizing 5 & Fizz Tools & works well with your machine.

I have exactly the aforementioned trouble!!!  I desire to buy designs and use them, but I can't transfer them from my computer (using Microsoft XP) to my reader/writer, and programmable card.  Practice I demand to buy another computer and load in the onetime Microsoft 96?  I don't desire to spend a fortune ownership new software when what I have used to do everything I needed it to do.  This is the downside of owning a computerized sewing auto.  Please, if in that location is anyone in cyberland that has an answer, I'd profoundly apreciate it!!!

Do you know how much that would cost to purchase?  I talked a little with the Viking Dealer here in town, just I've been burned past ane I went to before I moved here.  He said the amount would exist approximately $700 or $800...does that sound right to you lot?

As well, I was wondering, I don't actually care to exercise extremely hard digitizing, simply what simple digitizing I've tried with the five.0 was VERY HARD.  Is there anything that would let me take a basic outline or some lettering and digitize that?  Would the software y'all suggested piece of work for that?

Thanks for your help - I really capeesh it. :)

I have a Designer 1 and converted to USB.

I purchased Embird and it is very easy to learn.  You tin can purchase it individual modules.    Embird basic then after add together the Studio if y'all wish to  create your own designs.  Then other parts.   The program is user friendly and and so many are familiar with it so yous tin can get a lot of aid online.  Carolyn Keber has slap-up tutorials.  In that location are likewise great tutorials from the Embird site itself.

Howdy Angie,  From what I hear from others, the Embird is a good program. I haven't tried it, but I may just to run across what it tin can do. I really prefer Viking's 4D Emb. Studio and stitch editor. The ii programs would run around $700.00, merely a lot of dealers do offer a xv% discount every few months.

Yous tin can download the Embird for a free 30 day trial to come across if that is the program you want. It is a lot less than the Viking 4D.  I recollect yous should give the Embird a try.

I have a designer 1 and had the floppy changed to usb.  I initially bought the basic 3D software, just all of the additions were so

expensive I did some research to come across what else was out there. They are at present into 4D and more costly items.

I settled on Embird and am very happy with information technology. The price is very reasonable and likewise has additions. I take purchased several. They have just updated their software. Modest upgrades have been complimentary up until now.  This upgrade was a whopping $fifteen. All of the boosted modules for the upgraded production have no boosted accuse. I buy mine from secretsof.com. Their prices are discounted from the Embird folio and there is also a free social club with gratis monthly tutorials.

                Hope this info helps

                  Ok, a couple questions:

                  1.  How do you switch to a USB port?

two.  For Embird, I'm very confused past what I need to purchase and what each volition do.  I downloaded the descriptions from the Embird site for each department (basic, font, digitizing) and read them.  So, when I was looking at the secretsof.com site it said that if I order the 2008 I don't need all the individual modules...I'chiliad confused.

                  3.  Why is secretsof.com less expensive than the Embird site?  Do you not have access to the Embird tutorials or something vital?  Does it keep you from being able to exercise anything?  If I download the xxx days gratis, can I not get it from the secretsof.com site?

                  4.  LASTLY, about the 5.0 Viking software - when I try to view my designs in 3D, it blanks out about the whole view and I can never see but maybe a small function of the "run up-out" in 3D.  Does anyone know why it does this?  I take tried reinstalling and uninstalling and moving to other computers - nix ever works.  I even tried downloading a patch they had in the past and it doesn't work either. :(

Thanks for all your suggestions and helps!  I capeesh it more than yous know!

Beth  Depending on the quality of your car, (the age the hours of wear ) put on it you have to weight the cost of updating.

Information technology is 600 dollars to go to USB.  They will put a new pc board in machine and the USB port.  Yous would have to get to an authorized dealer in your surface area to do information technology.

I beloved mine simply my machine had very piffling time on it.   I run a small alteration shop and kept my good automobile for fun but used vi other machines to do my work.  The D1 is my babe just for me.      Unfortunately I don't have a lot of costless time to use information technology.  I have invested in the Embird program and I love it.   I have actually simply used machine for embroidery and not for sewing only close friend uses hers continually for everything and she has raved nigh it for at least 5 years or more than.  She does some fantastic embroideries on her machine.  She says she would love to accept another one in the near hereafter.

It's easy y'all just accept your car to your local dealer. the floppy disc drive is replaced with a USB drive it is expensive so look into it get-go. Your memery stick that is supplied with the upgrade holds 12 times more than your floppy could but still need to be in SHV format and needs a little more time to read because information technology holds more.

I promise this is only a rumor. I would rather they keep the D1 rather than the Designer SE. I know they accept had big problems with the Designer SE. The new Designer Diamond sells for $9,000.00, Give it some fourth dimension and Viking will throw in a lot of extras to lure united states in. I accept seen information technology done with all the embroidery machines. The Diamond looks good, but I withal dearest my D1. I am faithful to cleaning later on all embroidery and I think that is the secret of keeping it running without any problems. I use dental floss to clean the tension disc.

How-do-you-do Lu, Did the dealer quote you a price of the motorcar and software?  $nine,000.00 is the prepare toll of Husqvarna Viking. The Prof. software runs around $ii,000.00 so that would be correct. You lot really don't need the prof. software, the 4D Embroidery Extra is great. I know that the dealers in Maryland are offering the largest hoop as an incentive to purchase the machine. I believe that hoop runs close to $200.00. If you don't need to purchase at present I would expect a few months and I bet they volition offer a lot more. If you were dealing with an independent Viking dealer, they can really knock down the cost of the machine, if they want to brand a auction. If your dealer is inside the JoAnn stores, and then they can only practise what they are told. Like I said, if yous can wait it out, I am certain y'all will go a good deal. Sometimes they will include the software to make the sale...  Promise this helps.

I just traded my SE for the Viking Diamond.  Except for the large, big hoop it seems to be the aforementioned every bit the SE.  Kind of wished I had saved my $$ merely maybe it will be more fun than I am anticipating.

I have had my D1 since 2002, had it converted to the USB no bug and information technology but keeps chugging along.  Last twelvemonth I bought the SE and honey it as well.  my only complaint about it is that at speed it vibrates more than the D1.  I employ the 4D software but too take a re-create of 3D with the upgrades that I got with my D1 including the Dongle- if anyone is interested in the 3D contact me off list...

I would like to try a diamond but I honey the machines I have and cannot justify spending more.  ( I probably shouldn't have gotten the SE)  I was making my daughters wedding dress and I needed a machine to embroider while I was sewing...worked great and I still use both at times.  it is nice to exist able to embroider 2 items at one time when you have a lot to practice for the holidays!
